Full fit-out of new RELAY store at Heathrow Airport Terminal 2

Gray & Sons has successfully completed the full fit-out of a new RELAY store at Heathrow Airport's Terminal 2, marking the retailer's first-ever presence within a UK airport.

Delivered within an ambitious nine-week programme, the project involved the complete transformation of the retail space, including mechanical and electrical installations, flooring, partitions, bulkheads, decorations, bespoke joinery and specialist shopfitting works.

As part of RELAY's expansion into the UK airport market, the new store introduces a fresh retail concept designed to enhance the passenger experience, offering travellers a modern and welcoming environment within one of the world's busiest international transport hubs.

Operating within Heathrow's highly regulated environment presented a unique set of challenges. To meet the demanding programme, Gray & Sons coordinated day and night shifts throughout the project, effectively maintaining a 24-hour working schedule whilst adhering to the airport's strict security, safety and operational requirements.

The project required close collaboration between Heathrow Airport, RELAY, designers, consultants and specialist contractors to ensure every aspect of the fit-out was delivered to the highest standard and within the required timeframe.

A key feature of the new store is its bespoke joinery, complemented by high-quality finishes and carefully considered design details that reflect RELAY's contemporary retail identity. The completed space creates a seamless and engaging environment for the millions of passengers travelling through Terminal 2 each year.

The new RELAY store is now open to passengers travelling through Heathrow Terminal 2.
